Our take on ChainMan
The stealth focus comes with a narrow set of survival tools: flares distract, and crates or barrels conceal. That design leaves little room for direct confrontation, so the experience centers on reading enemy behavior and choosing when and where to move.
What is ChainMan?
ChainMan is a first-person VR survival horror game set on an island.
The player wakes with their arms chained and must stay out of sight of approaching zombies. Flares can distract enemies, while crates and barrels provide places to hide. Different enemies vary in how they detect the player: some rely on sight and others on hearing, so movement and use of light affect which routes are safe.
Provisions must be found to progress across the island and escape, using information left by other survivors to plan a path. Reaching the normal ending takes 2–3 hours, and further play can lead to an alternate ending. A multiplayer mode pairing a PC player with a VR player is described as a planned update, not a current feature.
How ChainMan plays
- 01Enemy detection differences
- Some enemies respond to sound, while others can spot light, requiring different ways to avoid them.
- 02Limited hiding tools
- Flares serve as distractions, and crates and barrels are the available hiding places.
- 03Alternate ending
- Playing beyond the 2–3-hour normal ending can reveal another ending.
