Our take on Breath of Fire IV
Dragon transformations define the combat system: Ryu’s Dragon’s Eye lets him become and summon dragons, adding a distinct transformation mechanic to battles built around skills, magic, and combos.
What is Breath of Fire IV?
Breath of Fire IV is a classic RPG adventure set across two continents divided by a vast swamp-land.
The story follows Ryu and Fou-Lu, while Princess Nina searches for her missing sister, Elina. Players explore a 3D world with a cast of characters rendered in pixel art, face distinctive enemies, and combine skills, magic, dragon transformations, and combo actions during battles. The party includes characters with different abilities, such as healing magic, sword attacks, offensive and defensive strengths, and weapon and magic attacks. This release includes English and Japanese localization, updated rendering options, improved audio, keyboard and mouse support, and revisions to the Warehouse and Crane minigames.
