RPGIs BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RPG players who prefer character relationships and memory-centered stories over plots focused mainly on combat
- Players who enjoy building and customizing a shared school rather than managing a city or large settlement
- Fans of character-driven adventures who want exploration and real-time battles alongside social activities
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a combat system built around slow, turn-by-turn planning may find its real-time pacing a poor match.
- Those looking for a large-scale world with many communities may find the school-centered setting comparatively narrow.
- Players who want a standalone story without character-bond activities may not enjoy the emphasis on requests and dates.
Our take on BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light
Rather than making dungeon exploration and battles the whole structure, the game pairs character-linked Heartscapes with school building and social activities. Its combat also moves in real time, with skill use and elapsed time shaping the pace.
What is BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light?
Ao Hoshizaki finds herself in a water-surrounded world with a school where three girls have lost their memories.
They know their names but little else, and Ao joins them in searching for a way home. The group explores Heartscapes, worlds tied to each character’s thoughts and memories, and encounters monsters along the way. Battles use real-time commands: skills can be chained into combos, and their pace changes with elapsed time and skill use.
At school, players build facilities suggested by the girls, including options such as a pool or takoyaki stand. Listening to requests and going on dates builds bonds with the characters; stronger bonds support character development and provide new items. The story centers on identity, memory, and the girls’ relationships.
How BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light plays
- 01School construction
- Facilities can be selected to suit the girls’ interests or the player’s preferences.
- 02Real-time command combat
- Skill chains can form combos, while elapsed time and skill choices affect battle tempo.
- 03Character bonds
- Requests and dates build relationships that contribute to character development and yield items.
- 04Heartscape exploration
- These character-linked locations revisit each girl’s voice and memories.
