Our take on Battle Chess
Rather than leaving combat as an implied part of chess, the game turns captures into on-board medieval encounters. Its structure remains chess, but its presentation replaces silent piece removal with animated clashes between the forces represented by each piece.
What is Battle Chess?
Battle Chess presents chess as a medieval conflict, with pieces acting out captures through humorous combat animations.
Matches can be played against the computer, against friends, or with the computer facing itself. Ten difficulty levels provide different challenges, while the artificial intelligence contains more than 30,000 moves. The package also includes Battle Chess: Enhanced. Its main change to conventional chess is presentation: instead of showing a captured piece simply removed from the board, each exchange is depicted as a clash between opposing medieval forces. The underlying activity remains chess, but the checkered field becomes a visual setting for combat between the pieces.
