Our take on Warpaint
Players who expect a broad roster of units may hit a limit at the three dwarf types. Those looking for a fixed win condition may also falter when some maps end by castle capture while others continue until one army is eliminated.
What is Warpaint?
Warpaint is a casual tabletop wargame in which players command armies of dwarves and catapults.
Each army has three dwarf types with different movement patterns, and each unit can move once per turn. Players can capture opposing pieces by moving onto their tiles or knock them down with cannonballs. Catapults are neutral: control a nearby unit to fire one once per turn. Turns continue until one army is eliminated or, on some maps, a castle is captured.
The game includes ranked online matchmaking, play against computer-controlled opponents, local hotseat multiplayer, and online play with Steam friends. An army painter lets players customize their models. Mac, PC, and VR players can join the same multiplayer game; VR play with a Vive and keyboard and mouse is also supported.
How Warpaint plays

- Mac, PC, and VR players can take part in the same game.
- 04Ranked matchmaking
- Online play includes ranked matches, as well as games with Steam friends.
- 05Computer opponents
- Players can face the game's artificial intelligence in solo play.
