We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Co-op groups who want physics puzzles with open-ended machine building
- Players who enjoy experimenting with contraptions and retrying after failures
- Creators interested in making and sharing custom planets and levels
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted puzzle path may bounce off solutions that allow improvised machines and repeated failures.
- Solo players may find the cooperative machine tasks and shared experimentation less suitable.
- Players looking for a combat-focused adventure may not find that structure here.
Our take on Astronimo
The likely bounce point is the construction system: players must assemble workable machines, test them against physics puzzles, and rebuild after failure. Those seeking direct puzzle-piece placement or a fixed sequence of solutions may stop when experimentation becomes the main method of progression.
What is Astronimo?
Astronimo is a cooperative adventure game for up to four players, set after four employees crash-land on a remote planet.
Players combine spare parts into improvised machines, solve physics-based puzzles, navigate hazards, and search handcrafted planets for secrets. Play supports online groups or local couch cooperation, with contraptions ranging from lifts to rocket-powered vehicles. Characters can be customized with different heads, suit decorations, gestures, dances, music, or a dog form. A world editor lets players make planets and levels, then share creations or explore those made by others. The game presents puzzles with multiple possible solutions, encouraging experimentation, failed attempts, and rebuilt machines.
How Astronimo plays
- 01Four-player cooperation
- Groups can play together online or on the same couch while solving puzzles and operating machines.
- 02Machine construction
- Players combine parts to make contraptions such as lifts, catapult cars, and rocket-powered buses.
- 03Planet exploration
- Several handcrafted worlds contain puzzles, environmental hazards, and hidden discoveries.
- 04World creation tools
- The editor supports making custom planets and levels for sharing with other players.
- 05Character expression
- Players can alter heads and suit decorations, perform gestures and dances, play music, or appear as a dog.
