SimulationIs Playcraft worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- People who want to make games without coding
- Players who want both to create projects and play community-made games
- Friends who want to build multiplayer worlds together
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a single authored campaign may find the open-ended creation and community-game structure lacks a fixed progression path
- Users looking for code-based or script-level development may reach the limits of the interface's no-code workflow
- Players who want only a finished game rather than tools for making and sharing games
Our take on Playcraft
The bounce point is the creation workflow: users expecting traditional programming or script-level control will encounter a no-code interface instead. Players wanting a single fixed campaign may also stop at the shift from authored progression to building or browsing projects.
What is Playcraft?
Playcraft is a multiplayer game-creation sandbox for building and playing games without code.
Projects can use first-person, third-person or top-down views and support solo or multiplayer play. The creation tools allow changes to visuals, rules, characters, powers, vehicles, cinematics and dialogue. Worlds can be dynamic and destructible, with offline or online co-creation for friends. All tools and content are available without farming to unlock them. Completed games and prefabs can be shared through the Steam Workshop. The creator also states that standout games may be published directly on Steam. Alongside creation, Playcraft includes community-made solo and multiplayer games for players to try.
