Our take on Asteroid Bounty Hunter
Rather than keeping asteroid shooting as the main loop, the game places ship maneuvering, bounty hunter encounters, and boss mechanics alongside planet defense. Progress also depends on experience farming and layered ship upgrades, instead of a purely level-by-level shooter structure.
What is Asteroid Bounty Hunter?
Asteroid Bounty Hunter is a space shooter about John, a veteran whose story unfolds through his connection with his ship’s AI and other characters.
Levels combine planet defense with fights against bounty hunters and bosses whose mechanics differ. The ship has four abilities, including a laser and a missile attack with a 60-second cooldown. Defeating asteroids and hostile ships earns experience for ship upgrades, with no player level cap. Upgrades can increase shields, damage, and ability cooldowns; ability-specific upgrades cover six areas. Five ships have different passive bonuses, and bounty hunter ships yield mastery points used to unlock ships. Each level also provides a one-time ship upgrade quest. Earlier levels can be replayed to earn more experience.
