SimulationIs Ashen Arrows worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want bow-focused combat with base defense
- Roguelike fans who enjoy randomized builds and repeated runs
- Small groups seeking cooperative wave-defense gameplay
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long, fully developed story campaign may hit the limit of the three currently available Saga maps.
- Players who dislike repeated wave defense and randomized run structure may bounce off Bastion mode's core loop.
- Players looking for solo co-op-style teamwork cannot use co-op in Saga mode, which is single-player only.
Our take on Ashen Arrows
The bounce point arrives when the initial Saga introduction ends: only three narrated maps currently form that mode. Players expecting a lengthy story campaign will instead need to move into Bastion mode, where randomized waves, builds, and repeated defenses define the experience.
What is Ashen Arrows?
Ashen Arrows is a first-person VR archery game set across realms inspired by Nordic mythology.
Players defend a base against ongoing enemy waves using bows, arrow types, traps, barricades, modifiers, environmental hazards, and tactical choices. Saga mode provides three narrated tutorial maps and a single-player story introduction. Bastion mode currently includes four maps with randomized skills, loot, enemies, and modifiers for repeated runs. Players can use blessings and relics from the gods, adapt tactics to different enemy types, and pursue a run with especially favorable combinations. Co-op supports up to three players in Bastion mode, while player banners and appearances can be customized.
