Is Start Over worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want to face a survival world alone while gathering, crafting, and building
- Cooperative groups seeking online survival play with base construction and defense
- Players who enjoy choosing between trading with friendly outposts and raiding hostile locations
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted story may bounce off the open-ended survival structure.
- Players who dislike gathering, processing materials, and maintaining defenses may hit a wall during progression.
- Players wanting a focused single-map experience may find the two-map exploration scope too broad.
Our take on Start Over
The bounce point arrives when survival becomes a recurring management cycle: gathering materials, advancing through four technology tiers, and maintaining defenses against scheduled raids. Players who want a short, directed adventure may lose momentum once base upkeep and resource processing take over.
What is Start Over?
Start Over is a survival game where players can face the world alone, cooperate with friends, or join others online.
Exploration spans two maps containing villages, military bases, camps, caves, and other points of interest. Players gather wood and ore, process materials, cook food, craft items, and build a base across four technology tiers. The game includes day and night cycles, changing weather, wildlife, inhabitants, random events, trading, and raids. Travel can be done on foot, by horse, or with vehicles. An optional wave system sends increasingly difficult raids against the territory every 1. 5 hours. Defensive construction includes barricades, concrete walls, fences, air defenses, bunkers, mortars, automated systems, and mercenaries.
