What is Ascent Spirit?
Ascent Spirit is a single-player VR climbing game set in 1940.
After being separated from a military hot air balloon and thrown onto Mount Kawagarbo, a French legionnaire must scale the sacred mountain with two improvised ice axes. The ascent includes mountain hazards and views based on NASA topography maps. Reaching the summit is only part of the objective: the climber must also return to the balloon before the wind releases it. Actions taken during the climb lead to three different endings. The setting combines a wartime balloon mission, a Himalayan survival scenario, and a focused climbing structure built for virtual reality.
