Our take on As We Descend
The two-part structure asks players to divide attention between tactical expeditions and city politics. That breadth comes at the expense of a single, uninterrupted focus on either combat or settlement management.
What is As We Descend?
As We Descend is a strategy roguelike deckbuilder in an apocalyptic setting, with card-building split between expeditions and the city that remains humanity’s last stronghold.
Recruit squads using scavenged technology; each has an archetype and cards that can be added, removed, or upgraded. Choose a squad composition for each battle, then respond to enemy intentions by moving forces between Guard and Support zones. Between expeditions, navigate the city’s feudal politics, seek allies, and manage limited time and resources. Each descent involves scavenging, fighting through three biomes, and trying to reach the core. Failed runs reveal secrets and provide knowledge and tools for future attempts.
