- Score chasers who want one-life runs, online rankings, and saved replays
- Players who enjoy testing different attack modes and form changes rather than relying on one combat approach
Skip it if you…

- Players who do not want to practice stages or review runs may have little use for the training and replay tools
Our take on Akai Katana Shin
The arcade-shooting focus trades broad exploration and varied progression for repeated stage mastery. Training, score attack, and replay tools support practice and score pursuit, but the central activity remains combat across the collection's three shoot-'em-up titles.
What is Akai Katana Shin?
Akai Katana Shin includes three horizontal shoot-'em-up titles set in a Taisho-era world of military conflict and supernatural giants.
The Fighter can switch into a Guardian through Soul-shift and use two shot modes: Attack emphasizes power, while Defense increases mobility. Soul-shift can block bullets in Akai Katana and Akai Katana Zetsu; in Akai Katana Shin, a Katana shot can quickly defeat strong enemies and negate or dispel attacks. Training lets players select a stage and adjust the unit's condition. Score Attack allows one life, with no continues or restarts.
Rankings and replays for that mode are stored separately from normal play. Gameplay recordings can be saved, and the Edit function can jump into a game from a selected point in time. Online leaderboards compare scores, and three background-music versions are available.
