Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want a survival RPG combining mining, crafting, construction, and quests
- Explorers interested in progression from island survival to travel across planets
- Players who enjoy games mixing farming, combat, technology, magic, and NPC relationships
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused adventure may hit a wall when the game expands across mining, crafting, farming, technology, magic, and travel.
- Players wanting a short, linear experience may lose interest in the broad set of activities, locations, and progression systems.
- Players who prefer combat-focused RPGs may not enjoy the equal emphasis on gathering, construction, cooking, farming, and exploration.
Our take on Aground
The bounce point arrives when basic island survival gives way to the game’s wider collection of systems. Players seeking a focused combat or story route may hit resistance once crafting, farming, technology, magic, NPC relationships, and travel join progression.
What is Aground?
Aground is a mining and crafting RPG about one of humanity’s last survivors stranded on an uninhabited island.
Progress includes gathering resources, building structures, completing quests, fighting enemies and bosses, farming crops, cooking food, and befriending NPCs. Players can advance technology, discover magic, ride vehicles and mounts, travel to other islands and planets, raise dragons, capture enemies, level up skills, fish, and explore secrets. The game’s wider story concerns humanity’s attempt to return to the stars and confront what lies beyond. A free demo covers the first few islands, and saves can transfer to the full version.
