We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Music-game players who want movement and combat tied to a soundtrack
- Action players who prefer stylised alien settings to realistic environments
- Controller users who enjoy combining rhythm-focused movement with boss fights
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a broad range of activities beyond music-led movement and combat
- Players who want a slower pace than speeding through stages while tracking light ribbons
- Players who need keyboard-only controls, since play requires a dual-analogue-stick controller
Our take on Aaero
The music-led structure gives the game a clear focus, but also ties movement and combat to its soundtrack rather than offering a broader set of play styles. The required dual-stick controller is another constraint: keyboard-only play is not an option.
What is Aaero?
Aaero is a music-driven action game set across stylised alien worlds.
Players steer through the environments at speed, following ribbons of light to release energy from the soundtrack. Combat is part of the ride, with enemies and boss battles appearing along the way. The licensed music includes tracks by Noisia, Flux Pavilion, Katy B, The Prototypes and Neosignal. Play requires a controller with dual analogue sticks, such as an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller or a PlayStation DualShock. The game combines music timing, movement through the world and combat in a single run through its stages.
