SimulationIs A Hole In Space worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want a slow space simulation rather than fast-paced action
- Sandbox players who enjoy setting universe size, shape, gravity, and star behavior
- Simulation fans interested in black-hole mass and force-based movement
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking fast movement may find the force-based acceleration and deceleration too slow.
- Players looking for missions or a broad campaign may find the central absorption objective repetitive.
- Players sensitive to large amounts of flickering and rotating bright stars should avoid this presentation.
- Players whose computers cannot handle large simulations may not be able to use the highest star counts.
Our take on A Hole In Space
The defining mechanic is mass-based consumption: the player grows by absorbing suns and can consume another black hole only after becoming more massive.
What is A Hole In Space?
A Hole In Space is a slow simulation in which players steer a small black hole through a universe built from selected settings.
Absorbing nearby suns increases its mass, making it possible to consume smaller black holes and then reach the remaining stars. Motion follows force-based acceleration: gathering speed and coming to a stop both take time. Depending on the computer, a generated universe may hold between 100 and 10 million stars. Players may build as many as 100 galaxies, set their movement to remain fixed or interact dynamically, modify stellar gravity, and alternate between views centered on the player black hole or the galaxies. A black hole is destroyed if a larger black hole absorbs it.
How A Hole In Space plays
- 01Procedural Universes
- A seed allows a generated universe to be shared with others.
- 02Galaxy Configuration
- A universe can contain up to 100 galaxies, which may remain stationary or attract one another.
- 03Star Count Range
- The universe can contain between 100 and 10 million stars, depending on computer performance.
- 04Gravity Controls
- Star gravity can be switched on or off, with different performance effects.
- 05Orbital Star Starts
- Stars can begin without velocity or already orbiting a central black hole.
- 06Spaghettification Setting
- An optional setting breaks stars into smaller pieces.
- 07Camera Switching
- Players can switch between the player black hole and a galaxy-wide camera.
