Our take on Orbit - Playing with Gravity
The presentation gives substantial attention to virtually limitless community content, but the defined campaign is 45 levels. Much of the additional scope comes from player-created stages rather than a larger authored progression.
What is Orbit - Playing with Gravity?
Orbit combines gravity simulation with puzzle progression.
Players launch planets toward black holes and try to establish stable orbits to advance through 45 levels. New mechanics appear over time, including black holes that push objects away and planets whose gravity attracts others. A Sandbox allows custom level creation by controlling time, turning collisions off, and painting with gravity. Created levels can be published for others to play. Planets can leave colored paths that form visual patterns during a level, while predicted trajectories show where a planet will travel before launch. The presentation uses minimalist visuals and classical piano music. Community-made stages provide additional content alongside the main levels.
How Orbit - Playing with Gravity plays
- 01Orbital Puzzle Levels
- The campaign contains 45 stages that introduce mechanics such as repelling black holes and mutually attracting planets.
- 02Custom Level Sandbox
- Level creators can alter time, switch off collisions, and use gravity as a painting tool.
- 03Community Publishing
- Custom stages can be shared publicly for other players to access.
- 04Trajectory Preview
- A projected path is shown before a planet is launched.
- 05Orbital Traces
- Planets leave colored trails that remain visible as the level develops.
