Our take on Zeus Begins
The retro arcade framing is clear, but the store presentation gives little sense of the campaign’s overall scale or how the journey is divided. Its references establish the style and influences more clearly than the structure of progression.
What is Zeus Begins?
Zeus Begins follows the young Zeus as he travels across Greece toward Olympus to confront Cronus, his father.
After escaping with help from his mother and training in combat, Zeus fights mythological creatures and titans while dealing with hazards along the route. The game uses a retro beat ’em up structure influenced by arcade games, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, films, anime, and other games. Its presentation uses 16-bit graphics, with different enemies appearing across the levels. Alongside the main combat stages, the game includes shoot ’em up bonus levels and final boss encounters. The campaign centers on Zeus’s journey from Greece to Olympus and the final battle against Cronus.
