Our take on Winter Ember
The focus on stealth and preparation limits the emphasis on direct combat. Players who want constant fighting may instead spend time hiding, scouting, managing bodies, and selecting arrows before confronting enemies.
What is Winter Ember?
Winter Ember follows Arthur Artorias, the sole survivor of a massacre that destroyed his family’s legacy.
After eight years in exile, he returns to the Victorian town of Anargal to investigate a dark plot involving a militant religion. The stealth-focused adventure lets Arthur infiltrate homes, explore hidden passageways, look through keyholes, pickpocket unsuspecting victims, and dispose of bodies. He can knock out enemies, kill them, or use arrows for offensive and defensive purposes, though unconscious enemies eventually wake up and bloodstains can reveal his presence. More than 30 arrow types support effects such as smoke, poison, breaking weak walls, and reaching higher places. Three skill trees—stealth, combat, and utility—contain over 70 active and passive skills.
