StrategyIs WARIUM worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Turn-based strategy players who want open-ended empire expansion
- Players who enjoy adapting to randomly generated terrain and starting conditions
- Players interested in unit progression alongside economic and defensive construction
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a scripted campaign may bounce off the sandbox format and chance-based world creation
- Players wanting simple battles may hit a wall when comparing force values, unit matchups, and upgrade branches
- Players looking for victory conditions other than destroying every enemy state may find the objective narrow
Our take on WARIUM
The bounce point comes when expansion breaks the connection to the capital. From there, the separated territory gains its own capital and treasury, adding another layer of state management alongside force matchups and unit upgrades.
What is WARIUM?
WARIUM is a turn-based strategy game with a sandbox structure and procedurally generated hexagonal worlds.
Players choose a faction, begin in a village, capture cells, expand territory, recruit and upgrade units, and construct economic or defensive buildings. Maps contain islands linked by teleports and biomes with different landscapes, fertility, and population density. Units gain experience by capturing enemy cells and use force rather than health in combat. Unit types include swordsmen, lancers, cavalry, ranged units, and spearmen, with several upgrade branches. A small map can contain up to 30 states, while a large map can contain up to 900. Victory requires destroying all enemy states.
How WARIUM plays
- 01Generated Hex Maps
- Each world contains islands, teleport links, and biomes with different terrain, fertility, and population density.
- 02Territory Expansion
- A unit claims a cell by standing on it, extending the state’s territory.
- 03Force-Based Combat
- A unit with greater force can destroy one with less force.
- 04Unit Experience
- Capturing enemy cells grants experience that allows units to be improved.
- 05Upgrade Branches
- Several unit types have multiple paths for development.
- 06State Separation
- A territory cut off from its capital can form a separate capital and treasury.
