Our take on Virtua Unlimited Project
The presentation foregrounds pixel art, VTuber characters, and retro platforming, while the progression system is a substantial part of play. Boss powers, support skills, EX Skills, elemental counters, and upgrade-slot penalties make the game more system-focused than a straightforward platformer.
What is Virtua Unlimited Project?
Virtua Unlimited Project is a 2D pixel-art action game set in a surreal virtual world populated by VTuber characters.
Players control Aizawa Kana while exploring NEO Babylon and fighting Operator bosses with different powers. Platforming and combat include the Extreme Flying Kick, which interacts with enemies and environments, grants brief invincibility after hitting a target, and can link with special moves. Defeated bosses provide parts of their powers and attributes, which can improve support skills and activate an EX Skill. Element interactions affect boss encounters. After friendly communications, bosses can join the player and be summoned through Support Skills. Levels contain Extensions such as anti-slip movement, faster charging, and automatic recovery, with installable slots and penalties for over-installation.
