Our take on Copycat
Its focus on emotional storytelling and reflective movement leaves less room for action-driven play, complex systems, or fast pacing. The result is a game built around following Dawn and Olive’s relationship rather than broad mechanical variety.
What is Copycat?
Copycat is a narrative adventure following Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who believes she belongs in the wild, and Olive, an older woman grieving a missing pet.
After Dawn is adopted, the pair form a close bond while learning what family and home mean to them. Their relationship changes when Olive becomes ill and a stray cat takes Dawn’s place, sending her onto the streets. Players move through alleyways, fences, and rooftops as the story explores rejection, loneliness, love, abandonment, and letting go. The game uses colourful visuals, reflective pacing, hours of dialogue, full voice acting, and an original music score. Sensitive themes include family trauma and abandonment.
