Our take on Venetica - Gold Edition
The open world gives players room to explore and develop Scarlett, but that structure can trade a tightly guided route for a broader journey across locations and realms. The focus on dark threats and combat also leaves less room for a quieter adventure.
What is Venetica - Gold Edition?
Venetica - Gold Edition is an action role-playing game set in a magical interpretation of Venice.
When her home is attacked and her companion dies, Scarlett learns that she descends from Death. She must awaken her concealed powers and confront Victor, a necromancer who has taken Death’s authority and surrounded himself with perilous monsters. The journey combines combat with exploration through palaces, villas, and narrow streets, alongside meetings with traders, companions, outlaws, and betrayers. Scarlett may cross from the realm of the living into that of the dead, wield supernatural death abilities during fights, and shape her character through varied choices. Its open setting features an alternating day-and-night system.

Venetica - Gold Edition compared to similar games
Ghost of a Tale follows a mouse performer who relies on sneaking, disguises, and exploration in a medieval animal setting, whereas Venetica follows Scarlett and her death-related abilities in an open-world Venice. Vagante sends adventurers through perilous dark-fantasy regions, while Venetica uses Venice as its central setting. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines cooperative combat with tower defense, loot, progression, pets, and character building; Venetica instead presents a solo heroine’s journey across mortal and afterlife realms.
