The defining structure is a 1 to 2-hour family narrative in which repairing a worn recipe book and preparing South Indian dishes carry the story forward.
What is Venba?
Venba follows a South Indian mother who settles in Canada with her family during the 1980s.
Players solve culinary puzzles, prepare regional dishes such as idlis, dosas, and biriyani, and reconstruct a deteriorating collection of recipes. Meals become a way for Venba and her son to connect as the family’s circumstances develop. Dialogue can branch according to player choices, while the story addresses family bonds, cultural identity, personal discovery, acceptance, affection, and grief. Recipes become available in an in-game Cookbook after preparation. A Tamil music-inspired original score plays through a built-in radio. The game is presented as a brief experience intended to be completed in a single 1 to 2-hour session.
