What is Uberlaufer?
Überläufer is a VR-only stealth game set in 1940, where a Wehrmacht soldier opposed to the Third Reich tries to escape SS imprisonment.
Each run changes the dungeon layout, objectives, and the soldier’s backstory. Objectives include collecting, destroying, or photographing items. Limited health makes route and action choices important, while sound and lighting affect detection: guards can be heard approaching, and lit areas make the player easier to spot and enemies’ aim more effective.
Silent takedowns, distractions, hiding places, and environmental hazards support different escape attempts. Letters reveal a former prisoner’s story, while historical leaflets and dossiers from German and Austrian resistance groups provide additional material. Movement options include smooth or snap turning, dash teleportation, optional comfort tunneling, and head-based locomotion.
