Our take on Tumblefire
Its focus on short, replayable town raids gives up the broader world structure found in larger open-world games. The four locations are handcrafted rather than procedurally generated, so experimentation centers on fire, destruction, faction reactions, loadouts, and scoring within fixed spaces.
What is Tumblefire?
Tumblefire is a Wild West action game built around short rides into handcrafted towns.
Choose a destination, accept a job or explore without one, then rob, burn, shoot, steal, or leave by stagecoach. Fire spreads according to wind and materials, while smoke, embers, structural damage, and collapsing buildings change each encounter. Four towns contain nine building types, placed patrols, stashes, and different transport options including horses, wagons, mine carts, and an airship. Sheriffs, bandits, and citizens react to events, and stealth uses visibility, noise, and alert levels. Progression includes four skill trees with 36 skills and weapon upgrades. Rides can be played solo or with one friend, then graded by earnings, chaos, time, and playstyle bonuses.
How Tumblefire plays
- 01Spreading Fire
- Wind and material types influence fires, which can create smoke, spread embers, char surfaces, and bring buildings down.
- 02Destructible Buildings
- Doors, windows, walls, and other building parts can be interacted with or damaged, while nine building types are placed across the towns.
- 03Handcrafted Towns
- Four fixed locations contain deliberately arranged buildings, patrols, and hidden stashes rather than procedural layouts.
- 04Reactive Factions
- Sheriffs, bandits, and citizens respond differently to danger, while sheriffs and bandits can fight each other.
- 05Stealth System
- Visibility checks, sound range, and alert stages support quiet approaches or noisier play.
- 06Skill Progression
- Four paths contain 36 skills, and weapon-specific upgrades can improve damage, firing speed, and reloading.
- 07Two-Player Co-op
- One friend can join from Steam, enter an ongoing ride, or find a public session, with LAN and session-code options also available.
- 08Ride Scoring
- Each outing records money, destruction, time, and bonuses for stealth, chaos, opportunism, or speed, with town leaderboards.
