Our take on Trackless
Rather than relying only on menus or conventional adventure-game commands, Trackless makes typed action verbs part of puzzle solving and scoring. Its three-dimensional setting is paired with a two-dimensional visual style, while the phone provides clues and special abilities.
What is Trackless?
Trackless is a puzzle adventure viewed from the character’s perspective, taking place in a far-off future.
Players become a seeker who ventures into the mountains and faces a sequence of tests on the way to a mysterious structure known as The Object. Text commands let players engage with people and objects. The game features dozens of puzzles built around choosing particular action words, with better-scoring choices earning a higher score. Currency gained by exploring and solving puzzles can be spent on items and phone enhancements.
The phone offers hints and special abilities. Players can travel through varied settings, hear other seekers discuss their lives and beliefs, uncover hidden routes, and meet unfamiliar beings. The presentation places a 2D graphic style within a 3D environment, with music by Makeup and Vanity Set.
