Play it if you…
Good fit- Platform-adventure players who want puzzles alongside climbing, jumping, and swimming
- Players who enjoy gradually receiving new abilities across successive levels
- Fans of classic-style platform games who want a robot protagonist and corporate intrigue
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a combat-focused game may bounce off its emphasis on puzzles, traversal, and evasion
- Players who want all abilities immediately may find the successive-level power progression restrictive
- Players looking for a meditative climbing journey may not fit the more traditional platform-game structure
Our take on Toolboy
The bounce point is the ability progression: players who want to experiment with every movement option from the start will hit a wall because the four powers arrive one after another across the levels.
What is Toolboy?
Toolboy is a platform adventure about a repair robot sent to fix a fault in a corporate building during his weekend.
The job exposes a management conspiracy involving the planet’s power department, forcing Toolboy to escape while solving puzzles and evading opponents. An old computer, disconnected from the main system, provides clues through special information points. Exploration combines climbing, jumping, swimming, device manipulation, disguise, running, and object movement. Four abilities become available on successive levels: controlling certain devices, transforming into a cube to hide from scanning drones, sprinting between areas, and moving containers to create routes for climbing and jumping.
How Toolboy plays
- 01Four gained abilities
