Play it if you…
Good fit- Arcade platforming fans who want a high-difficulty challenge
- Players seeking a compact action adventure with traversal and projectile attacks
- Retro game enthusiasts interested in a hand-drawn remake of a 1989 title
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a relaxed platformer may find the stated arcade difficulty demanding
- Players wanting deep character development or role-playing systems may find the action-platform structure limited
- Players looking for a broad open-world adventure may find the six-area progression too contained
Our take on Toki
The arcade-focused design prioritizes demanding movement and enemy encounters over broader exploration systems. An easier mode widens access, but the core structure still centers on repeating challenging platforming sections rather than offering varied character progression or open-ended routes.
What is Toki?
Toki is a hand-drawn remake of a 1989 arcade action-platform game.
Players control Toki, a warrior transformed into a chimpanzee after Miho is kidnapped by the sorcerer Vookimedlo and demon Bashtar. The adventure spans six named areas: The Labyrinth, Neptune Lake, the Cave of Fire, the Ice Palace, the Jungle of Darkness, and the Golden Palace. Toki can walk, jump, swim, climb, and attack enemies by spitting. The game retains challenging arcade-style play while adding an easier mode for rookie players. Its presentation uses newly drawn artwork and rearranged music. The vendor also lists a speedrun mode, five visual filters, and a 32-track jukebox as coming-soon additions.

Toki compared to similar games
Toki uses arcade-style platforming with walking, jumping, swimming, climbing, and saliva-based attacks across six named environments. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER is a runner with shooting, focused on running, jumping, dodging, and destroying enemies, so its movement structure is more continuously forward-driven. Jusant instead centers on climbing tools, stamina management, exploration, and uncovering the history of a tall tower.
