Our take on To The Rescue!
The central constraint is limited shelter space: new dogs can arrive while existing animals need care, and adoption decisions shape who can be housed.
What is To The Rescue!?
To The Rescue!
is a dog shelter simulator about caring for dogs and finding them homes. Each dog has generated traits and preferences, while visitors arrive with their own adoption criteria. Daily work includes providing food, water, shelter, and cleaning, alongside managing expenses such as food and vaccines. Random events can bring disease outbreaks or additional dogs, and the shelter has limited space.
Fundraisers and donations can contribute funds, while upgrades expand capacity and change how the shelter operates. The story mode follows a shelter's growth from a garage to a larger facility, with events and developing story threads along the way. Four minigames—Tug O’ War, Itchy Scritch, Fetch, and Bathtime—offer activities beyond routine care. The game also includes an optional euthanasia mechanic.
How To The Rescue! plays
- 01Dog adoption matching
- Visitors seek particular qualities, so a dog's generated traits and preferences factor into adoption decisions.
- 02Shelter management
- Funds from donations and adoptions must cover recurring costs such as food and vaccines.
- 03Shelter upgrades
- Improvements can increase housing capacity and make feeding and watering more efficient.
- 04Four care minigames
- Tug O’ War, Itchy Scritch, Fetch, and Bathtime provide activities alongside daily shelter tasks.
- 05Optional euthanasia mechanic
- Players can opt out of this part of the shelter-management experience.
