Is Timeline worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want to manage civilizations across historical eras rather than focus on a single conflict
- Players who enjoy combining resource management, technology research, settlement building, diplomacy, and combat
- Map-making enthusiasts who want to edit settings or create custom maps without programming tools
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a short, tightly focused campaign may find the broad historical scope less suited to that preference
- Players looking for combat alone may find the resource management, research, settlement building, and diplomacy distracting
- Players seeking a fixed presentation may not want the editable maps, settings, and game content
Our take on Timeline
Rather than centering on a single campaign or battle, Timeline spans human history and combines settlement growth, resource management, research, diplomacy, and combat. Its map editor and editable settings make customization part of the structure rather than only a replay option.
What is Timeline?
Timeline is a turn-based strategy game covering human history from the Stone Age to modern times.
Players command units to gather resources, construct buildings, towns, and cities, explore a real or randomly generated map, and meet civilizations controlled by AI. Resources collected from terrain or produced in buildings support technology research, unit and building construction, and upkeep. A global market allows surplus resources to be sold and missing resources to be purchased. Diplomacy and combat provide additional ways to interact with other civilizations, with battles affected by terrain, generals, unit types, and other variables. Interface settings can be customized. A map editor and editable text files support changes to maps, units, buildings, civilizations, technologies, terrain, and other game settings.
How Timeline plays

- 04Terrain-based combat
- Combat is affected by terrain, generals, unit types, and other variables.
- 05Map editor
- The editor can generate random maps or support manual map creation.
