Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking constant combat may find its emphasis on concealment and evasion restrictive

- Players looking for a bright, contemporary setting may not suit its corrupt city of nobles, magic, and machinery
Our take on Thief: Deadly Shadows
Rather than treating action as a sequence of direct fights, the game makes concealment, lockpicking, misdirection, and shadow placement central to progression. Guards react to sound, sight, evidence, and pursuit, so the usual action-game expectation of confronting enemies head-on is replaced by planning around visibility and detection.
What is Thief: Deadly Shadows?
Take the role of Garrett, a thief operating in the shadowed City, where wealthy nobles prey on the poor and magic exists alongside machinery.
Enter buildings, navigate streets, open locks, avoid or surprise guards, and wield equipment including a blackjack, arrows, wall-gripping gloves, oil containers, flash devices, and a dagger. Money taken during robberies can be spent, and illegal acts raise Garrett’s reputation. Guards perceive sound and movement, examine clues, search locations, chase suspects, engage in combat, and speak during encounters. Illumination and darkness shape stealth, while people and objects produce changing shadows as Garrett moves through occupied spaces.
