We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR adventure players who prefer short, self-contained journeys
- Fantasy fans who want environmental puzzles and magical creatures
- Players who enjoy branching routes rather than a single fixed path
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long-form adventure may find a 30-minute-to-one-hour run too brief
- Players who prefer linear progression may find the circular structure and multiple routes disorienting
- Players looking for combat-focused action may find the experience centered on exploration, choices, and environmental reactions
Our take on THE TEAR
Its defining structure is a circular puzzle world: the route can fold back on itself, so the point where the journey begins may also serve as its ending.
What is THE TEAR?
THE TEAR is a VR adventure set in a strange fantasy world.
The environment forms one connected, circular puzzle, with different routes through the experience and a structure in which the start may lead back to the ending. Progress depends on responding to the world around the player, including interactions with magical creatures such as fairies and sphinxes. The adventure presents a choice-driven journey focused on discovering a hidden gateway to another world and attempting to save both realms. A single play-through lasts between 30 minutes and one hour. The game is available for arcades through SpringboardVR.
How THE TEAR plays

- 04Short Playthrough
- One run takes between 30 minutes and one hour.
