Our take on The Sentinel
Players who want broad battlefield control may bounce at the single-cannon setup. The main wall arrives when balloons must be intercepted before reaching their height threshold while upgrade choices compete for attention between waves.
What is The Sentinel?
The Sentinel is a tower defense game built around a castle-mounted cannon.
The cannon moves with keyboard arrows and continuously launches spheres that fall under gravity toward rising balloons. Each balloon displays a hit value, and reaching a set height reduces the cannon’s life by that amount. Players begin each match by selecting one of 20 upgrades, then gain further choices whenever a charging bar fills. Upgrade decisions can favor stronger defenses, weapon improvements, abilities, or attacks suited to dangerous enemies. A match ends when the cannon’s life reaches zero or after surviving enemy waves for 15 minutes. Match points expand the starting upgrade selection over time, from 1 choice to a maximum of 10.
How The Sentinel plays
- 01Cannon Movement
- Keyboard arrows control the cannon positioned above the castle.
- 02Balloon Targets
- Falling spheres collide with balloons that require hits based on their displayed values.
- 03Upgrade Choices
- Players select from 20 upgrades at the start and receive another choice whenever the charge bar fills.
- 04Two Match Endings
- A run concludes when cannon life reaches zero or when 15 minutes of enemy waves have been survived.
- 05Progressive Unlocks
- Accumulated match points increase the number of upgrades available before a game, from 1 to 10.
