Our take on The Otherwilde
Rather than centering its RPG structure on leveling, The Otherwilde makes crafting and resource discovery the main route through its world. Its relaxed exploration also sits apart from survival-focused games, though wolves and other threats remain part of the journey.
What is The Otherwilde?
The Otherwilde is an open-world fantasy game centered on exploration and crafting, without leveling or survival mechanics.
Players collect herbs to brew potions, gather timber, rock, and metal, then use workstations to produce items. Resources are scattered selectively, so players must learn which places yield plants and which trees or rocks can be harvested. Other activities include building bases, farming, hunting wildlife, trading with a village merchant, and visiting locations such as a maze, the Fen, and the Alder Grove. Wolves and other hazards roam the world. The game is in pre-alpha Early Access; three sections of its main map are complete. A tutorial level demonstrates the game’s assets and gatherable items.
How The Otherwilde plays
- 01Resource Gathering
- Herbs and other materials are scattered across the world, and not every tree or rock can be harvested.

- 03Base Building
- Base construction currently uses medieval-style wooden assets.
- 04Farming System
- Seeds can be found while gathering herbs and mushrooms.
- 05Village Trading
- A trader buys gathered goods and sells unusual items.
- 06Exploration Tutorial
- A separate level from the main menu demonstrates the game's assets and harvestable items.
