Our take on The Mors
The focus on light management and escape leaves less room for a combat-led horror experience. Randomized encounters and items add variation, while end-of-level saves structure progress around discrete sections rather than unrestricted saving.
What is The Mors?
The Mors is a single-player first-person survival horror game following Jack, who enters an abandoned estate while searching for a missing coworker.
The journey moves through hallways, caves, cellars, and flooded tunnels as hostile creatures pursue him. Light provides visibility and can slow the threats, making fuel and alternative light sources important resources. Players collect objects, find tools to overcome obstacles, use healing tonics, and read optional journals containing story details or useful items. Encounters and item placements are randomized. The game includes three difficulty levels, 15 achievements, and save points at the end of levels. It contains blood, gore, violence, and intense horror.
How The Mors plays
- 01Light-based survival
- Environmental lights can reveal areas or delay the creatures pursuing Jack.
- 02Resource gathering
- Fuel, alternative light sources, healing tonics, tools, and other objects support exploration and progression.
- 03Randomized contents
- Encounter events and item locations vary between playthroughs.
- 04Optional journals
- Readable journals provide background information and can sometimes contain useful items.
- 05Three difficulty levels
- The game offers three settings that change the challenge.
