StrategyIs The Guild II worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy medieval role-playing and want to shape a family dynasty
- Simulation fans who prefer managing characters and relationships
- Strategy players interested in trade or theft as routes to growing a dynasty
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted, mission-by-mission progression may find the open-ended life-simulation structure a poor match.
- Those who prefer a combat-focused experience may find the emphasis on family life, relationships, and individual characters limiting.
- Players looking for a modern setting will not find one here.
Our take on The Guild II
Its focus on individual lives and family succession trades large-scale scope for a more personal view of medieval power. Players manage a small party of up to 3, so the experience centers on characters, relationships, and dynasty growth rather than broad territorial control.
What is The Guild II?
The Guild II blends role-playing with life simulation during the closing years of the Middle Ages.
Establish a family line, shape an individual character, and organize a group of as many as three characters whose abilities and shortcomings vary. Time continues during play, so street life can include a public execution or a theft carried out by a rival. Wealth and influence can come from commerce or criminal activity, alongside decisions about friendships, marriage, and passing learned abilities to later generations. Rival characters follow their own agendas, while families and groups can prosper or decline. Choices may leave a mark on unfolding history within a three-dimensional world spanning multiple generations.
