Our take on The Dungeons of Castle Madness
The defining detail is the combination of grid-based first-person dungeon exploration and top-down action combat within the same RPG structure.
What is The Dungeons of Castle Madness?
Overthrow a tyrant in an action dungeon-crawling RPG that combines first-person exploration with top-down combat.
Grid-based movement guides exploration through labyrinthine levels containing secrets, traps, and treasures. The game has 19 levels, including 2 that differ between playthroughs. Abilities include spellcasting, werewolf shapeshifting, weapon and armour crafting, and several combat roles that can be combined. Armour and weapons may be damaged or destroyed, then repaired, upgraded, crafted from scratch, or conjured.
On hardcore difficulty, the automap is disabled and monsters are tougher, requiring manual mapping. Inventory space is limited. Additional content includes an extra level, new spells, magical items, maps, and a gem bag that increases inventory space. The game works best on Windows 7; Windows 10 users may experience issues.
