Our take on The Case Book of Arne
The Problem-and-Solve structure gives the investigation a defined sequence, but limits open-ended exploration and improvisational case work. Its supernatural rules also trade realistic crime fiction for a mystery shaped by vampires, zombies, and other monsters.
What is The Case Book of Arne?
The Case Book of Arne is a detective adventure set in a world where paranormal activity occurs and non-humans may become suspects.
Players investigate a bloody mystery with Arne Neuntöte, a vampire detective who uses supernatural powers, and Lynn Reinweiß, a nobleman’s daughter who loves vampires. The game divides the investigation into Problem and Solve episodes. Clues are introduced in the Problem episodes and then used to work through the mystery. Special rules involving zombies, vampires, and other monsters shape the case. The story takes place in Lügenberg, a city inhabited by non-humans, after Lynn seeks help and encounters Arne. Fantasy elements and character-focused storytelling accompany the detective structure.
