Saves you a refund- Players seeking exploration-led progression may find the room-to-room combat structure narrow.
- Players who prefer relaxed pacing may not enjoy waves that require fierce reflexes for survival.
- Players looking for a broad range of non-combat objectives may find the focus on extermination limiting.
Our take on The Bug Butcher
The focus on vertical shooting and wave survival gives the game a distinct arcade structure, but limits the range of combat situations. Room-by-room progression leaves less space for exploration and slower encounters.
What is The Bug Butcher?
The Bug Butcher is a 2D side-scrolling shooter set in an infested futuristic research facility on planet Zoit.
As exterminator Harry, move from room to room and fire rockets, lasers, and lightning upward at bugs attacking from above. The mission is to survive until decontamination is complete, protect the remaining scientists, and collect coins. Weapon and health pickups appear during the action, while increasingly challenging levels bring swarms of bugs of different sizes and nightmarish bosses. The game draws on the vertical-shooting mechanics of Super Pang and adds platforming, humorous presentation, grotesquely cute art, and a range of weapons and power-ups. Quick reactions are required as waves of bugs attempt to kill Harry.
