Our take on Teslagrad
The focus on visual storytelling removes written exposition and spoken dialogue, so narrative context must come from the environments and scenes. Its nonlinear structure also gives up a straightforward route through the tower in favor of exploration and environmental problem-solving.
What is Teslagrad?
Teslagrad is a 2D adventure set in and beyond a deserted Tesla Tower, where a young boy becomes involved in a forgotten conspiracy.
Exploration follows a non-linear structure across hand-drawn environments inspired by steampunk-era Europe. Electromagnetic abilities, including magnetism and electricity, let players manipulate the surrounding world and solve puzzles with varying difficulty. New items are collected during the journey, while five final bosses provide combat encounters. The story is presented without spoken dialogue or written text, using visual scenes instead. The game also omits loading screens, interface elements, and cutscenes. Its soundtrack combines classical orchestration with Russian influences, metal elements, and electrical sounds. Teslagrad is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux.
