Our take on Telling Lies
The game departs from the usual investigation structure by making database searches and video conversations the main form of discovery. Instead of following a set sequence, players choose search terms and assemble meaning from the clips they find.
What is Telling Lies?
Telling Lies is an investigative thriller with a non-linear story built from secretly recorded video conversations.
An anonymous laptop contains footage from a stolen NSA database covering two years in the private lives of four people connected by a shocking incident. Players enter search terms, watch clips in which those words are spoken, and piece together the events and relationships revealed through the recordings. The investigation centers on choosing what to search for and how to interpret the conversations. The game stars Logan Marshall-Green, Alexandra Shipp, Kerry Bishé and Angela Sarafyan. It is presented as a video game about private conversations and follows the creator's earlier work on Her Story and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
