Our take on Tachyon: The Fringe
The focus on piloting, combat, and mission choices leaves less room for activities outside the mercenary space-fighter role. Its branching decisions add variation to the campaign, but also make the experience more centered on conflict and faction involvement than on a broad range of play styles.
What is Tachyon: The Fringe?
Play as a mercenary space fighter caught in a conflict on the galaxy’s fringe.
Pilot a spacecraft through combat around large ships and stations, choose destinations, and select missions while exploring an inhabited universe. The story branches according to key decisions, which affect later events. The game also includes battles across multiple sectors, where players choose a side and attack an opposing base. Single-player play is supported, alongside team tactics and coordinated attacks using Voice-Over-Net. Conversations with other pilots form part of the campaign structure. The game features Bruce Campbell as the voice of Jake Logan.
