Rather than presenting horror as a sequence of guided encounters, Surrounded places exploration and discovery in an open area. Its creatures react to sound, so movement and noise become part of navigating the story with a group.
What is Surrounded?
Surrounded is an open-world horror game for up to six players.
In co-op story mode, players explore Echofield, an abandoned town and its surrounding area, search for items that reveal its history, and avoid creatures that react to sounds. The story centers on a remote laboratory’s meltdown 30 years earlier, which affected the nearby forest and village. Government agents sent to investigate disappeared, and the area was later sealed off. Players enter the region amid rumors of monsters and strange sounds. The world allows access through every door and interaction with most items, according to the vendor.
