Our take on Submerged
The defining structure is a flooded-city journey split between boat travel and vertical traversal: Miku identifies supply locations from the water, then climbs through buildings to reach them.
What is Submerged?
Play as Miku, a young girl searching a flooded city for supplies to save her wounded brother.
Travel through submerged streets in a small fishing boat, use a telescope to locate buildings with useful items, and plot routes across the city. Dock at landmarks, then climb vines, ladders, ledges, and pipes through navigation puzzles that become more difficult. Exploration can follow an unhurried pace across colorful outdoor environments during the day or night. Wildlife and rooftop remnants inhabit the drowned city, while hidden objects reveal a story about a damaged world and family. The game has no combat and includes a map for marking locations spotted from a distance.
How Submerged plays
- 01Flooded City Exploration
- A small powered boat carries Miku through submerged streets between buildings and landmarks.
- 02Telescope And Map
- The telescope reveals buildings containing supplies, which can then be marked for route planning.
- 03Vertical Navigation Puzzles
- Reaching supplies involves climbing across vines, ladders, ledges, and pipes with increasingly difficult paths.
- 04Hidden Story Objects
- Collectible objects provide pieces of the city’s history and the family’s story.
- 05Combat-Free Adventure
- Progress centers on travel, observation, climbing, and discovery rather than fighting.
Submerged compared to similar games
Jusant focuses on climbing a tall tower, managing climbing tools and stamina while exploring paths toward its summit. Submerged instead combines boat travel through a flooded city with telescope-based searches, map marking, building climbs, and no combat.
