Our take on Star Souls
The dramatic extinction premise receives more attention than the practical structure of play. The main activities are galaxy travel, mission completion, real-time combat with pauses, ship customization, and event handling rather than a purely narrative space adventure.
What is Star Souls?
Star Souls follows a crew searching for the Transition as stars collapse and inhabited planets are destroyed.
Exploration involves traveling through the galaxy, handling enemy threats, and completing varied missions. Combat takes place in real time, with tactical pauses for reallocating energy among ship systems, protecting valuable vessels, avoiding meteorites and dangerous energy fields, using nebulae for concealment, and steering through debris. Fleet management allows ship customization, upgrades, weapons, and modules. Story events can trigger battles, bonuses, penalties, or other scenarios. Alien encounters and changing journeys accompany the science-fiction narrative, with space views and music presented as part of the experience.
