StrategyIs Spectre worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Horror fans who want a virtual-reality experience
- Small groups seeking asymmetric multiplayer roles
- Players who enjoy pursuit, deception, and environmental suspense
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may find the Seeker role restrictive because its stated activity centers on moving, exploring, and preparing to attack.
- Players wanting a relaxed or predictable session may hit a wall when Spectre traps, decoys, and hidden identities create constant uncertainty.
- Solo players who do not want a haunted-mansion pursuit scenario may not suit the single-player structure.
Our take on Spectre
The bounce point arrives when Seekers realize movement and nearby teammates cannot be trusted. Players who want direct combat or clear information may hit the wall at the Spectre’s deception system, where altered movement, distorted vision, and attacking decoys define the encounter.
What is Spectre?
Spectre is a multiplayer horror game with virtual reality support.
In single-player mode, a lone Seeker explores an abandoned mansion with only a headlight while a spirit follows them. The objective is to search the mansion and find a way to banish the Spectre. Multiplayer supports up to four players, who can play as Seekers or Spectres. Seekers cooperate and prepare to attack, while the Spectre uses deceptive abilities to disrupt them. These include traps that affect vision and movement, along with decoys that imitate immobilized Seekers and attack nearby players. The game centers on suspense, pursuit, and uncertainty, with players unable to know whether a nearby movement comes from a teammate or the Spectre.
