Our take on Space Empires V
The broad customization comes with a trade-off: players who prefer a fixed setup must contend with a game that gives substantial attention to vehicle design, AI creation, graphics changes, and player-made modifications.
What is Space Empires V?
A strategy game about building an interstellar empire across a vast galaxy.
Players survey space, extend their territory, and face rival powers in tactical combat. Diplomacy between empires, hex-based movement, and a system for creating vessels shape the campaign. Each galaxy may hold 100 star systems, with up to 15 worlds in every system. Customization covers vessels, installations, cargo haulers, combat craft, orbital hazards, observation units, ground forces, unmanned craft, and weapon emplacements. Its research structure offers thousands of technological stages alongside hundreds of modules and facilities. Fourteen species can be selected or altered. Maps can be generated at random or imported, and user-made modifications can change visual assets, computer-controlled opponents, and other parts of the game.
