Our take on Sonar Scout
The defining detail is navigation by sonar in dark underwater environments, where remembering the landscape matters as much as steering the submarine.
What is Sonar Scout?
Sonar Scout places players in a submarine exploring low-visibility ocean depths.
The main task is to locate and reactivate lost beacons, restoring communication with a forgotten civilization. Navigation depends on using sonar and remembering the surrounding underwater landscape, while hazards require quick reactions. New environments provide access to submarines with distinct abilities. Runs can be compared through leaderboards, allowing players to compete with friends for faster results. The game centers on exploration, beacon restoration, environmental memorization, and submarine handling rather than a broad collection of activities. It was created by six developers from five countries who met at Spelkollektivet, a Swedish co-living space for game developers.
