Is Shadow Vault worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy RPG players who want squad command rather than a solo-character adventure
- Players interested in tactical battles with specialized unit roles and experience-based progression
- Science-fiction and alternate-history fans who want a 21-level campaign against mutant forces
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a large-scale army command system may hit the limit of commanding a small band of fighters
- Players wanting an open-ended campaign may find the fixed 21-level structure restrictive
- Players looking for a prison-escape narrative may prefer a game centered on inmates and breaking free
Our take on Shadow Vault
Players who dislike tactical unit management may bounce off when choosing which fighter advances and assigning roles such as medic, engineer, sniper, or commando. The same friction returns when battles require using cover, clearing buildings, and matching abilities to the situation.
What is Shadow Vault?
Shadow Vault is a strategy RPG set in an alternate history shaped by nuclear war.
Command a small group of fighters against the heavily armed Contingent government and its mutant forces. Units have distinct roles, including medics, engineers, snipers, and commandos, and gain abilities through combat experience. More than 30 abilities and over 40 actions support unit development. Battles take place across 21 levels, with ruined structures providing cover and buildings serving as locations to enter, clear, and search for civilians. Players can interact with mutant technology, customize their team, choose which units advance, and investigate the Contingent government while defending territory.
